If water fun is your passion, you will enjoy spending the day on Black Hawk Lake. We have four public boat ramps that give you quick access to the lake. If electric troll motoring is more your speed, nearby Arrowhead Lake offers a quieter boating experience. Both lakes provide the perfect spot for casting your line for walleye, crappies, bullheads, catfish, bass and bluegill.
If a day on the trail is what you are after, just head to the 33-mile long hard-surface Sauk Rail Trail or the self-guided nature walk through the Black Hawk Game Preserve on Stub Severson Trail. Both give you an opportunity to watch our local wildlife. Home to several species of wildlife and wildflowers, you will find plenty to look at.
There is a public beach at the entrance to the campground for swimming along with sand volleyball and playground equipment. Boulder Beach, our 19-hole mini golf course is also located at the entrance of the campground on the shoreline of Black Hawk Lake and is a perfect activity for the entire family. You will also enjoy attending our local activities including city-wide garage sales in May, Sip & Sample Wine Tasting in June, Stone Pier Concerts throughout the summer, July’s annual Summer Water Carnival, and the camp’s traditional Halloween-In-September event.
